Get access to the Polywater® Pull-Planner®
The Polywater Pull-Planner is a powerful web-based software that helps engineers and installers plan successful installation of cable into conduit. It also provides insights that help optimize complex cable system designs and facilitates the documentation of field-recorded tensions for future cable pull planning.
For engineering teams, the Pull-Planner
- Simplifies pull tension calculations
- Identifies potential challenges in a pull
- Generates pull-plan documentation
- Utilizes best data security practices
Maximize cable route design and get ahead of potential
cable damage with the Polywater Pull-Planner.
Three ways the Pull-Planner helps cable-in-conduit design and installation:
Support cable installation planning
• Calculate accurate pulling tension and sidewall pressures based on cable and conduit design
• Identify areas within a cable pull pathway that could potentially experience jamming based on the route design and cable configurations
• Determine the best direction of the cable pull that will provide less tension and sidewall pressure
• Select different cable lubricant types for optimal coefficient of friction (COF)
• Export the pull-plan into a single document that incorporates cable and lubricant spec sheets to share with the installation team
Create more cost-efficient cable and conduit system designs
• Facilitate project team collaboration by creating project groups and sharing access to pull plans with other registered users
• Attain reliable tension calculations and cable lubricant options that permit longer lengths of cable to be safely pulled over greater distances
• Minimize/eliminate the need for unnecessary cable splices and terminations within a design by exploring the feasibility of longer cable pull lengths
• Construct systems with fewer underground (URD) structures such as vaults, handholes, and pull boxes because of longer cable runs and the elimination of potential splices
Use field data to support future projects
• The back-calculation feature in the software can be utilized when field-recorded ending tensions are entered into a pull plan—producing a field-verified pull calculation for future reference
• Engineering teams can create a catalog of common cable pulls based on field data experience that can be applied to future pull plans that utilize similar cable, conduit, lubricant, and route data

When it comes to cable-in-conduit installations, there are many known factors. However, there is one critical unknown factor at the core of every cable installation project—Coefficient of friction or COF. Learn how Polywater helped an electrical construction company calculate and safely reduce COF to maximize their cable installation project.

Common questions about the Pull-Planner:
Is there an annual fee for using the Pull-Planner?
There is no fee to use the Polywater Pull-Planner. It is a value-added service offered to eligible planning teams. Request access for eligibility.
What are the technical requirements to operate the Pull-Planner?
The Polywater Pull-Planner is a web-based, stand-alone application. Registered users can access their login through any web enabled device. Because of the robust information needed to create a pull plan, it is recommended the software is accessed on a desktop, laptop, or tablet.
How long has the Pull-Planner been around?
First introduced in 1985, the Polywater Pull-Planner was the world’s first software to put the math and science of cable pulling into the hands of engineers and installers—eliminating tedious, hand-written calculations. Over the past 40 years, it has evolved into a robust platform far beyond a calculator. Today, Pull-Planner is used by planning teams worldwide and has supported thousands of miles of cable installations.
Does the Pull-Planner have the capability to export a pull report?
Yes, the Pull-Planner can export a pull report in either a PDF or Excel spreadsheet. There is also an option to include with the report the Lubricant Technical Data (Spec) Sheet based on the lubricant choice and the Cable Spec Sheet if it was included in the Cable Database.
Can I import pull data from older versions of the Pull-Planner?
Yes, the current version of the Pull-Planner supports importing pull data from version 4.0
