A Program for Cable Pulling Tension Calculation
and Conduit System Design

DESCRIPTION

Pull-Planner™ 3000 for Windows™ calculates cable pulling tension and sidewall pressure around bends using the pulling equations.   Tension estimates are useful in designing conduit systems and planning cable pulls.   Such planning can save time and money by minimizing splices, vaults, pulling set-ups, etc., while ensuring installation tensions that won't damage cable.

Pull-Planner™ 3000 for Windows™ follows the proven approach of the earlier Pull-Planner™ 2000 and Pull-Planner™ II versions by approaching a pull in "segments."   Each segment normally consists of a straight section followed by a bend.   Browser (html) "HELP" menu links throughout the program explain data entry and terminology.   If you are familiar with cable and conduit terminology, very little training is required to run the program.

Pull-Planner™ 3000 for Windows™ is available exclusively as an Internet download.   It will run on numerous Windows™ operating systems.   Total installation will consume 4 to 8 megabytes of hard drive space.

• Calculate and recalculate tensions and sidewall pressures automatically during easy changes of friction coefficient, incoming tension, or pull direction.
  
  
• Establish a custom cable data file with your common cables by name, type, weight, and OD.   Just click on these standards for quick data entry.
  
  
• Print pull details and calculation results to Windows™ printer, or copy and paste data through the clipboard to other Windows™ programs.

• Use "dual" friction coefficients if desired, one at high and one at low sidewall bearing pressure, plus establish a sidewall pressure for the transition.

• Use a pushing force on cable entry or a push/pull device in the cable run.
  
  
• Back-calculate an effective friction coefficient from field measured tensions--useful for additional calculations in similar environments.
