Whole word search:  Searches are for whole words only.  Do not search for partial words.  Symbol searching can give unpredictable results.
Case independent:  Search results do not depend on upper or lower case letters.
Default is "And" or multiple word searching:  The default search looks for documents that contain all the words searched.  A space is the same as the word "and".  So searching Fiber Optic Cable is the same as searching Fiber and Optic and Cable and will return all documents that contain all three of these words singly or combined in any order.
Phrase searching:  To search for phrases, enclose the phrase in quotations.  So searching "Fiber Optic Cable" will return only documents that contain this phrase in its exact order.
Catalog # searching:  Since all American Polywater catalog numbers contain a hyphen, it is most effective to seach them as phrases.  So searching "D-128" will generally give better results than searching D-128 .
"Or" or single word searching:  Inserting "or" between words searches for each word singly.  So searching Fiber or Optic or Cable will return all documents that contain any one of these words.
Non-English searching:  The Polywater Web Site contains a number of documents in French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese.  Unfortunately, the character based alphabets (Chinese) are not searchable at this time.  The Roman alphabet languages can be searched but proper accents must used.  For instance, the Portuguese word aplicação will return all documents that contain this word, while the unaccented version aplicacao will show no hits.
"Rank" sorting:  The documents hits from Polywater's site are ranked (maximum = 1000) based on a calculated relevance.  The sorting is from the greatest to the least rank.  However, all hits are made available with excerpts, so all can be quickly reviewed.
